While the game of golf is always decided on the course, there’s so much more to maintaining an elite level of play throughout a season, just by showing up at your tee time.
Scott Stallings turned pro in 2007 and has not only seen fitness and training become a necessity in sports, but also in his personal life. The three-time PGA Tour winner once weighed 257 pounds. While he was playing well, he didn’t feel that. He had always done some form of training but never had a structure for his programming. Once he decided to focus on his nutrition and training, he lost over 70 pounds in less than two years. Along with the physical transformation, his approach has also changed.
Stallings’ recent partnership with Important is just another avenue for the 37-year-old to ensure he is at his best before, during and after competition.
“You can’t do the volume of play, travel and expect to manage the ability to sustain high performance,” Stallings said. “The body just doesn’t work that way. I am the perfect example. When I got there, I did nothing. I thought as long as I played well it didn’t really matter. Next thing you know, age and time add up and these are undefeated.
After a recent swing on the West Coast, Stallings unpacked some of her travel necessities and walked M&F through her picks that feature some of her favorites from Momentous — including everything from products that help optimize sleep and cognitive performance, to items from her new golf package that he developed with a performance expert Dr Andy Galpin– The NoBull gear and the protein shaker that drives his shopping cart crazy.
This is my absolute appointment. It’s just an amazing resource to be able to supplement your meals. You’ll be drinking water and it’s a great way to squeeze in electrolytes and carbs throughout the day instead of constantly having to eat. Strawberry is my favorite flavor.

L-Glutamine, Creatine, Recovery, Fuel
This is part of a stack I assembled. This is mainly post-training. I’m going to take this concoction before I go to bed. I have a cardio session in the morning before the Pro-Am and will have it to make sure I can sleep fully until my alarm.

Brain Drive, Rhodiola Rose Extract
Rhodiola helps manage stress and how your body reacts to it. Brain Drive is a pre-tournament for cognitive functions. Half of my bag is for the meadow and the other half for the mail. The Sleep Pack is to help what you’ve been doing upstream to help your body come down and get into that recovery mode. The dietary part is huge, but supplementation is all about getting your cortisol reduction to essentially go the other way. It doesn’t necessarily do it for you, but it does help your body react to it. When it enters your body, I don’t think of the five feet I had. I look at the back of my eyelids and that’s it.

HWPO Training App
It happened at the US Open in Boston. I was training with the CEO of NoBull, Marcus Wilson. We were walking the course and he asked if I could explain how I trained. We had practiced before, but it was always like a pre-scheduled class and he had never seen me schedule a workout. We went to his gym in Chestnut Hill and I accompanied him for about an hour. He really didn’t say anything and I think he’s trying to find a way to get me out of my contract and I made a big mistake. We’re having coffee and he said, “I’m trying to figure out how many of these things you made me do that I’ve ever done in my life and I can’t find a single time.” He told me that I had to release a program.
HWPO CEO Matt O’Keefe was there and asked me what I needed to get the programming out there and I got five years of programming from things I did. I needed someone to help me condense it, manage it day to day, and manage it. In about a month he had the guy, I met him and we took him out. We just released our next 12 weeks and it was really cool to bring what I do in my own life to the golf community who are trying to use fitness to help their game. clock and everything is built into the app to help you use the full extent of what you are capable of. There are modifications and we are building a traveling one right now. The bigger question is, how do you train when you travel? If you don’t travel to earn a living, you don’t know how to. I take pride in programming and being able to use something in health and wellness to bring that to golf is a no-brainer.

Colgate Max Fresh Wisp
I have them everywhere. I have Invisalign. My wife made these first and wish we had them in stock. If you talk to someone with Invisalign, they will tell you that they always brush their teeth. I have them in my golf bag and everywhere.

O’Keeffe’s Active Hands
My hands are my life. This is how I earn my living. This is the manliest hand lotion I can find. We play and train so much. I also use my hands a lot when I train and they take a beating. It’s just to make them a bit more accessible instead of making it feel like I’m putting them through the blender.

Bobo’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oat Bar and Larabar Chocolate Chips
They are constants and to be honest, I wouldn’t say they are my favorites in the world. But, they are my favorite right now. I go through ups and downs and that was my programming on the west coast. They are quite clean and high in carbs.

Mentos Pure White Eraser
I constantly chew gum, especially when I train and play. My dentist doesn’t like it because I take out my Invisalign but I don’t use it when I play or work out. My wife always laughs because I’m going to put about four coins in it and then I brush my teeth before putting them back.

Jump Rope Rx
I normally keep snacks in the bag with my jump rope. I’ll try to catch a quick workout and maybe I didn’t eat. So I’m going to have something before I hit the gym so I don’t put myself into a huge deficit where I’m going to eat everything in sight.

Voltrx Vortex Protein Shaker
It’s probably the favorite thing I have. If you’re a guy who doesn’t want to carry all your powders around, this is for you. A friend of mine gave me one and I love it. My caddy hates it because it ends up in the golf bag quite a bit, but I love it.

Discipline is Destiny: The Power of Self-Control
I had the opportunity to speak to Ryan Holiday a few times, to exchange information on what we do. It offers a bit of a different perspective on when you go out there and compete at a high level. This is his last book that came out. I always keep anything he publishes relatively close because you don’t really have to follow the book in order. You can pick up at any chapter and find something that strikes you between the eyes. He does a very good job of putting principles that were used thousands of years ago into place and making them applicable to life as a parent, husband, professional athlete, etc. where you don’t take yourself too seriously and give yourself a bit of a break, but also hold yourself to a higher standard.

NoBull T-Shirt and NoBull Quilted Crewneck
It’s just a workout shirt and the waffle sweater is my favorite. I literally had a guy in the crowd at the Pro-Am in Phoenix asking me on the fourth tee if he could touch my jersey. I said yes, but it was like, get away from me afterwards (laughs).

NoBull Horns Duffel Bag
It was literally my bag that I used on the west coast. The relationship with NoBull changed his life and his career. It’s shocking how many people wear NoBull at tournaments. Being able to bring the brand into the world of professional golf is something I’m very proud of and something I don’t take lightly. It’s something that’s integral to everything I do. My daughter always gives me a hard time. She will ask me “NoBull today, dad?” It’s pretty much NoBull everyday [laughs].
