When people, and especially men, suffer from hair loss problems, they don’t know where to turn for help. Often they:

  1. Try to hide the hair loss problem by changing their part or hairstyle
  2. Buy counterfeit products that claim they can restore hair
  3. Take vitamins and other supplements that are explicitly sold for hair growth

As you may know, you can’t always prevent your hair from falling out as you age, but certain treatments and remedies can slow the process down.

Reasons for hair loss in men

Before looking at the various ways and methods by which you can deal with the problem of hair loss, let us take a quick look at the reasons that cause hair loss in men.

1. Surgery or illness

It is possible that your recent surgery or a serious illness that you are recovering from is the cause of the hair loss. And that’s completely normal. Many people experience dramatic levels of hair loss or thinning hair problems a few weeks after their major surgery or after an illness.

Although the level of hair loss may seem excessive, it is just a reaction to a specific event and your hair will return to normal after a while.

2. Medicines

Certain blood thinners and many chemotherapy drugs commonly used in cancer treatments are well-known causes of hair loss. Hair usually returns to normal once the medication stops.

Antidepressants are also one of the reasons that can lead to hair loss and too much vitamin A can have the same effect.

3. Hormonal imbalances

Testosterone is a hormone in men that is responsible for, among other things, deeper voices, muscle growth and performance. When the male body converts testosterone into less useful dihydrotestosterone or DHT, it can experience hair loss.

DHT attacks and shrinks hair follicles, leading to thinning or hair loss.

4. Thyroid problems

People suffering from hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism often suffer from hair loss due to an accelerated conversion of testosterone to DHT.

Even people undergoing thyroid treatment are not immune to hair loss associated with their condition.

5.Stress

If you’ve ever been under a lot of pressure at work or at home, you can blame your stress for your hair loss. If you are the one suffering from excessive physical or emotional stress, hair may stop growing normally and fall out two or three months later.

Fortunately, hair loss problems caused by stress are usually not permanent.

6. Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is the most common autoimmune disease that is also exacerbated by stress. This causes your hair to fall out in round patches on the scalp and elsewhere on the body due to your immune system attacking the hair follicles.

About 5% of people with alopecia will lose hair over their entire scalp. Generally, in some cases, the hair regrows, but it is very common for hair loss to reoccur.

How to treat or control hair loss problem

1. Quit smoking

If you are a chain smoker, you may have heard of all the negative effects of smoking on your lungs. But did you know that smoking can also cause hair loss problems? And above all, does it cause facial wrinkles and premature graying of the hair?

Several studies have determined that there is a link between smoking and hair loss. If you want to prevent hair loss, it may be a good idea to quit smoking as soon as possible.

2. Scalp massage

Not only do massages help us feel good and relaxed, but they can also help you with your hair loss problem. If you massage the scalp, it will stimulate the hair follicles.

In one of the small studies, healthy Japanese men who received 4 minutes of scalp massage every day for 24 weeks had thicker hair by the end of the study duration.

3. A balanced diet

It is proven and widely accepted that a well-balanced diet can keep your hair looking its best. You need to make sure that you include a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, unsaturated fats, and lean proteins in your daily diet. Do not forget to limit your consumption of sweets.

Certain vitamins and minerals found in food are associated with healthy hair.

You should try adding these types of foods:

Iron-rich foods including lean beef, beans, green leafy vegetables, iron-fortified cereals, and eggs

Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, flax seeds, egg yolks, hemp seeds, and walnuts

Protein-rich foods, such as eggs, lean meats, and seafood

Finally, be sure to drink plenty of water.

    4. Get a health check

As mentioned above, several medical conditions can lead to hair loss. You will be able to treat your hair loss by treating the underlying medical conditions.

      • Diabetes
      • Lupus
      • lichen planus
      • Sarcoidosis
      • Scalp psoriasis is caused by scratching the scalp
      • Alopecia areata
      • Thyroid disorders
      • Eating disorders due to poor diet
      • Iron deficiency or anemia
      • A hair-pulling disorder called trichotillomania
      • Celiac disease
      • Syphilis

If you suffer from any of these illnesses or medical conditions, or even if you have other symptoms besides hair loss, you should be sure to see your doctor and get the treatment you need. Your hair loss problem should improve as your condition improves.

      5. Avoid over-forcing your hair

We’re not suggesting you give up your sleekness to keep your hair down, but pulling your hair tightly into a ponytail, bun, pigtails, braids, or cornrows is a big no-no!

This could lead to alopecia, a type of irreversible hair loss problem. If you want to keep your hairline, maybe it’s time you found other ways to style your hair.

        6. Avoid perms

Perming means straightening and curling hair using chemicals that can damage your hair. It works specifically by breaking internal hair bonds and then reforming them in another way to straighten or curl your hair.

This method will weaken your hair, making it dull, dry and brittle. After a while, dry, brittle hair can contribute to hair loss.

        7. Reduce dyes and chemicals

If you regularly color your hair, you risk losing your hair. The chemicals in hair colors increase the risk of serious damage to your hair. You should color your hair no more often than every four to six weeks.

When it comes to going gray, it’s much kinder on your hair to let it go gray than to dye it.

        8. Don’t bleach your hair

Bleaching removes the natural pigment from your hair as the cuticles are penetrated by chemicals. It will change the structure of your hair and make it more susceptible to damage.

Your hair is weakening, so the bleaching associated with blow-drying and styling can completely damage your hair.

        9. Don’t traumatize your hair

Our hair is naturally weak and fragile and this can be exacerbated by sudden hair loss. Even if you are using serum or other shampoo, it is advisable to wash and handle your hair gently to complement the hair care tips you are required to follow.

Make sure the shampoo you use is gentle enough and doesn’t dehydrate your hair. You may consider applying a post-shampoo moisturizing conditioner to further reduce hair breakage.

Here is someyoga for hair growth which not only stimulate hair growth but will also help reduce hair loss and improve hair health.
