A healthy liver is essential for good digestive health, improved immunity and metabolism. As the second largest organ in the body, the liver has many functions to perform. Thus, good health is imperative. Fatty liver disease is a medical condition that is becoming widely common in today’s generation.

According to the National Health Portal of India (INPA), 9-32% of the population suffers from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, when liver fat exceeds 5-10%, it will lead to serious health problems.

Alcoholic fatty liver disease develops due to excessive alcohol consumption, while NAFLD results from obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol. If left untreated, fatty liver can lead to liver scarring or cirrhosis. It is therefore essential to take certain precautions to protect your liver.

Turmeric milk

Turmeric can help improve digestion and prevent the accumulation of fat in the body. Moreover, its rich antioxidant properties make it suitable for maintaining a healthy liver. Adding a teaspoon of turmeric to a glass of milk can help achieve these benefits.

Regular exercise

Studies show that exercise is the key to staying fit and is an effective remedy to help with liver disease. Limiting a sedentary lifestyle and getting involved in physical activities will prevent the onset of fatty liver disease and other health complications. For example, doing simple walking and other light exercises daily will help you recover easily from the condition.

Limit sugar consumption

People with fatty liver disease should avoid eating foods high in fructose or added sugar, as these can aggravate the symptoms of the disease by promoting fat deposition and inflammation of the liver.

Common examples of such foods include candies, cakes, cookies, energy drinks, ice cream, sports or non-alcoholic drinks, sugary cereals, and processed yogurts.

Avoid junk food and processed foods

Excessive consumption of fast food is the main reason for the accumulation of fat in the liver. In addition, they increase bad cholesterol or LDL, which is harmful to health. Therefore, you should avoid certain foods like red meat and whole dairy products to avoid further spoilage.

You may have to wait a few weeks to see a reduction in fat buildup in your liver by eating a healthy diet with fresh fruits and vegetables, but it’s a healthy and natural way to achieve the same result.

Note from The Fitness Freak

People who are obese or have excess abdominal fat are more likely to develop fatty liver disease. A nutritious and balanced diet with whole grains, healthy fats and vegetables will help with weight management. Reducing overall body fat can also reverse the progressive worsening of liver health symptoms.

Conclusion

If you have fatty liver disease, lifestyle changes are essential to help your liver work better. A healthy diet and regular physical activity can help improve your liver’s ability to detoxify your body, reducing your risk of developing other health problems.

Making smart food choices now can help you stay healthy in the future.
